I Hope You Dance

In Loving Memory of
June Nettleton
1972-2008

In her short time on this earth, June danced with her Lord. She took chances and gave her all as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her radiant face encouraged me to press into our Lord. Her faith spurred my faith in our Savior. June now dances in the heavens with our Lord. She has inspired me to take a chance and dance while I am still here.

John 10:10 AMP
10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

Blessings in Christ--

Shonda,

Thank you for doing this tribute to my sister June. You are a true, true friend.

This song means so much to us - especially now. My Mom had given a copy of this song to myself and two sisters several years ago. I hadn't listened to it in a long time. When we were trying to decide what song to play at her funeral I thought of this song. Even though I couldn't remember the words I knew it was the one. Because of the emotional state of everyone we thought it would be easier on all of us if we just had the pastor read the lyrics. Music can trigger tears every time. I am so glad we did because watching the video and hearing the song really made me weep.

I believe if June were able to tell us something it would definately be "I Hope You Dance". I believe the words in this song are HER words to us - all of us. She had so much faith and never gave up hope that Jesus was healing her - never! The enemy just stole her from us. But we have to go on and fulfill her destiny and live our lives with her kind of faith. She inspired us all!

We miss you June!

Dear Shonda,
Thank you for letting me know about Jen and her sister, June. I am praying for their entire family.

I left a note on the Remembering June blog.

And yes, that is a beautiful song!

Shonda, from reading C.S. Lewis, that phrase about dancing with God is one he spoke of in his writings as well. And it has been a phrase that I have come to adore in my own life. I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious friend. I'm so stirred by the thought that she danced with her LORD on earth and then took His Hand for the great waltz. Even this morning I read in C.S. Lewis a quote about Psalm 23 resting by still waters so that we can learn to dance with HIM. Beautiful post. Beautiful friendship.
