God Stop Friday

Today I’m joining Patty @ Girlfriends in God for God Stop Friday.

I want to share something the Lord has been pressing on my heart lately.

God is in control!!

That’s it! He is in control. I learned (and I’m still learning) this. I had a series of events recently take place in my life that left me disappointed. None of these events are serious. But they’re like chigger bites. It had gotten under my skin and irritated me. The more I scratched at them the more irritated I got. Finally, I pulled out the nail polish and smothered them. In other words, I decided to seek God about what was going on and apply HIS word and HIS ways to those situations.

I had set up in my little mind the expected outcome of the events. When the outcome was different than what I imagined, I was left disappointed. I realized that I was disappointed because I put my hope and happiness in the outcome. My hope and happiness must be in God! HE NEVER FAILS!

Psalm 143:5 NIV

Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

After I saw that my hope must be in the Lord and I must praise HIM, I prayed a prayer I haven’t prayed in a while. I prayed and asked the Lord, “What do I need to learn from this?”

The Lord heard me and HE showed me. Thank You Lord! Not only that, my 10 year old son was privy to one of the issues (I know none of you mama bears get defensive when your young’n gets hurt). As a parent, I had to teach him the God way to handle it. I had no choice but to lay it down at the Savior’s feet. When I did, I was able to instruct my child through it. God gets all the glory!

The result from this – PEACE! His peace that passes all understanding.

To God be all the glory!!

Blessings in Christ--

Thats so awesome Shonda! Not the going through part, but the outcome. :) Why does it take us 502 times to finally get it? Does for me anyway.

Hope you have a great weekend.
Blessings~

I relearn that same lesson. God is in control...He never fails. I could say that every day. I need to actually.

Peace comes through surrender.

Glad you were able to instruct your son. And glad you felt peace.

Have a glorious weekend!

God is in control....yet we balk at that alot, those of us who are "controling" people. Not me, of course!! :-)

Enjoyed your post!

Chigger bites. That is exactly what life's irritations are to us; small but distracting Great analogy. You have reminded me to keep the nail polish handy.
Blessings,
Nancy

Shonda,

I read on your website the part about praying according to God's will. The Lord has spoke that to me before. I've known that the Lord's prayer is our example but I've never seen it broken down and outlined like you did so beautifully. I am going to use the prayers that you have written out often. Thank you for blessing me with them and for being a huge piece to this journey that I am on with the Lord. Thanks again for your faithfulness to the Lord. You have encouraged me today. I am so blessed.

Hugs,
Nicole
